St. Bernard's - Justin

Our work site in Buffalo is the Wilson St. Farm. The Wilson St. Farm is a farm located within the city  on lots that used to consist of abandoned housing. The owners of the farm, Mark and Janice, established the farm with a goal of ending the issues that result from the presence of a food desert. The definition of a food desert is an area in which people are unable to obtain nutritious food. The farm accomplishes this by providing healthy food to those who experience this struggle. At the work site, our main task has been building a new fence to provide protection for the crops grown there. By constructing the fence, we allow Mark and Janice to focus on tending to more important tasks on the farm. The fence that we are building will also provide more space for plants because plants are able to be grown vertically along the fence. Overall, we joined together with Mark and Janice in order to make the area a more welcoming and happy place for those who reside there.
