Saint Noel YNIA - Andrew

Today was the first day of the 2019 Saint Noel YNIA Buffalo trip. On this trip, we will go to work sites for a week, doing various activities in service to the community through certain Catholic Relief Programs. This is my second year on this trip. Last year, we worked in a Chicago-based organization called Misericordia. At Misericordia, numerous people with developmental disabilities were given the opportunity to achieve a similar quality of life to that which we experience everyday and take for granted. This year, we will be doing activities such as participating in food kitchen services and performing physical labor for the benefit of the impoverished citizens of Buffalo. While the topics of these trips can vary much from year to year, the overall theme is uniform: Help out as many people as you can so that they may have the same chance to achieve the luxuries that you have. Tomorrow we will go to our worksites for the first time. If all goes well, I will have made lifelong friendships this week and provided a helping hand to defeating the monster that is poverty. Finally, thank you to the Harvest House and Buffalo for all of their hospitality. While this was only my first day in Buffalo, I am excited to see what the week holds.
